All European nationals from 18 years old are eligible to vote for the 2024 elections in Spain, following these simple steps.Â
The key to voting lies in expressing your intention to participate; by January 30, 2024, all residents willing to vote should have registered and by now have received the “tarjeta censal” (census card).Â
Once obtained, you can fill in the DFA (formal declaration form), as requested by your Town Hall (town of residence) and disclose your last electoral constituency to prevent double voting. At the polling stations, you will need to present your original ID, passport, driver´s license or residence card.Â
If you are not able to reach your Town Hall on the day, you can vote at the website of the National Statistics Institute or by post. Post votes can be made online on the Correos website or at any post office in Spain.
After applying for votes by post you will receive an envelope with a ballot paper and the certificate of registration in the Census at the address indicated. The envelope will state the address of the polling station where you should vote and by placing the ballot paper of your choice in the envelope, you should send it before June 12, free of charge.
Place your vote on June 9.
