MasterChef s Gregg Wallace breaks his silence on Instagram with a cryptic post as allegations of inappropriate conduct over 17 years escalate.
Gregg Wallace, MasterChef presenter, has been charged with allegations for making a number of inappropriate sexual comments. These allegations have been emerging and now amount to 13 people coming forward over a 17-year period. Now, things seem to be taking a major turn for Wallace as his charity has dropped him as ambassador. The latest in the case sees the TV cooking reality show star post a cryptic message on Instagram – the first time he has broken the silence since significant allegations were filed two days ago.
Wallace, best known for MasterChef, was ambassador of autism charity
Mr Wallace, aged 60, is best known for co-presenting MasterChef alongside John Torode since 2005, as well as its spin-offs Celebrity MasterChef and MasterChef: The Professionals. He used to be the major presenter on BBC show Saturday Kitchen in 2002 and has starred on other TV shows including Eat Well For Less, and Supermarket Secrets. In 2022, he was made an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his services to food and charity. He also took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2014 and was partnered with Aliona Vilani. Aside from shows, he displayed a philanthropical side. He was made ambassador to charity, Ambitious about Autism, after his son, Sid, was diagnosed with the condition when he was four years old.
Rod Stewart s wife raises serious allegations against Gregg Wallace
However, reports have confirmed that Wallace has been dropped from the charity. Not only this, but on November 28, Wallace left the BBC programme, MasterChef amid the allegations made and particularly with regards to an incident which occurred with Penny Lancaster, wife of legendary singer, Rod Stewart. The MasterChef contestant accused Wallace of humiliating her with sexual comments and then having the footage “cut.” Ms Lancaster is adamant that this is dealt with appropriately, as is her husband who has taken to social media to expose the truth behind Wallace’s behaviour.
Further allegations were made about Wallace’s antics on his programme, Big Weekends. The programme’s production company Rumpus Media were asked to investigate the accusations and said: “We do not tolerate inappropriate behaviour on our productions. Wallace has been accused by former Newsnight host Kirsty Wark of making jokes of a “sexualised nature” when she was competing on Celebrity MasterChef in 2011.
Wallace posts photo gingerbread man on Instagram to break silence
In the light of accusations like this and others, Gregg Wallace finally broke the silence on social media to admit to a number of inappropriate and sexualised comments towards colleagues. He also posted a rather cryptic message in the form of a gingerbread man with the caption ‘Enjoy your weekend’.
Gregg Wallace is “committed to fully co-operating” with investigations by MasterChef’s production company, Banijay UK. A statement from the company said: “While this review is under way, Gregg Wallace will be stepping away from his role on MasterChef and is committed to fully co-operating throughout the process.”
