Thanks to the quick response of firefighters, the 84-year-old escaped the fire

An 84-year-old man was rescued from a house fire in Vélez -Málaga on Saturday.
The incident occurred early in the morning in a building located on Calle de Pablo Picasso and resulted in firefighters rescuing the elderly man as well as two other residents.
Terrifying ordeal for residents when kitchen fire started in Vélez -Málaga
The terrifying incident started when a fire broke out in the kitchen of a home in the town. The Emergency Coordination Centre, 112 reported that a call was received regarding smoke pouring out of a house and local firefighters, the National Police, Local Police and emergency service were immediately dispatched to the scene. The 84-year-old man was suffering smoke inhalation and was sent to Axarquía Hospital. Two other people were also evacuated from the building, but according to reports, were not affected by the smoke and did not require medical attention.
Be vigilant: electrical items, sockets and don t leave cooking unattended
The incident is a solid reminder of the importance of being vigilant when cooking or when working with electrical goods. Be wary of overcharged plug sockets or of leaving electrical devices plugged in. Fire alarm installation is also strongly recommended to prevent domestic fires like this one, which could have ended in tragedy. As always, many thanks to emergency services in the area, who responded promptly and efficiently to the alarm.
