At Bodegas Pinoso, the winery team, partners, and winegrowers unite annually to coordinate the harvest.
According to technician Javier García, this year’s harvest was marked by a significant drop in vineyard production, mainly due to the severe drought of the past two years. The lack of water and unusual temperatures early in the year affected the vineyards, particularly the Monastrell and Airén varieties, which are later in their growing cycle.
These conditions led to weak vine growth and a low yield, with smaller and lighter grape bunches. As a result, this was one of the smallest harvests in Bodegas Pinoso’s history.
Exceptional Grapes means High Standards
Despite the low yield, the quality and health of the grapes were exceptional. Based on initial tastings, this year’s wines are expected to match the high standards of previous vintages.
The harvest spanned a month and a half of intensive work. Each grape variety was harvested at its peak ripeness, starting with Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Early-ripening varieties such as Merlot, Tempranillo, Syrah, and Macabeo were picked next, followed by Airén, Garnacha, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The harvest ended with Petit Verdot and Monastrell.
The 2024 harvest produced 3,180,000 kilograms of grapes, yielding 2,400,000 litres of wine.
