The Almeria Fair will start at the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Mar

The Almeria Fair nears closer and closer, as the city prepares to stroll the streets decorated for the festivities.
In celebration of the Virgen del Mar, the patron saint of the capital, this year the Almeria City Council has organised a wonderful wealth of events and open-air concerts for the province to enjoy.
Taking place between Friday 16 and Saturday 24, August, the Almeria Fair is unmissable and the schedule proves just that.
Friday August 16
7 pm Preparatory prayer before the Virgin of the Sea on the occasion of her transfer to the Holy and Apostolic Cathedral Church of the Incarnation at the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Mar.
9 pm Opening speech by Juan Jose Carmona of the KETAMA group in the Plaza de la Constitucion.
9:30 pm Concert by Los Rebeldes in the Plaza de la Constitucion
10 pm Performances by musical groups in the municipal booth in the fairgrounds.
10:30 pm Lighting of the fair gate in the fairgrounds.
Saturday August 17
9 am Parade of Giants and Bigheads in the Historic North Quarter and Quemadero.
11 am Transfer of the Virgen del Mar
12 pm Gastronomic event Sabores Almeria at the fair on the Paseo de Almeria.
12.30 pm XI Bullfighting Surgery Proclamation at the Patio de Luces of the Provincial Council.
1-5 pm Opening of the Midday Fair, at the Puerta de Purchena.
9 pm Religious proclamation by Eduardo Blanes Arrufat at the Cathedral of the Encarnacion of Almeria.
10 pm Performances by musical groups in the municipal booth in the fairgrounds.
Sunday August 18
9 am Parade of Giants and Bigheads in the Barrio Alto and Santa Isabel.
10 am to 12 pm Exhibition of vintage motorcycles on the Paseo de Almeria.
11 am Traditional children s games at the Nicolas Salmeron Park.
12 pm Sabores Almeria at the fair on the Paseo de Almeria.
12 to 5 pm Midday Fair in the Center of Almeria.
1 pm Tribute to women at the Fairground.
10 pm Performances by musical groups in the municipal booth in the fairgrounds.
Monday August 19
11 am Traditional children s games at the Nicolas Salmeron Park.
11 am Children s cooking workshops at the Central Market.
12 pm Sabores Almeria at the fair on the Paseo de Almeria.
12 to 5 pm Midday Fair in the Center of Almeria.
7 pm to 10 pm No noise event with fixed lights for people with auditory and visual hypersensitivity at the fairgrounds.
7:30 pm Battle of flowers at multiple locations; Avenida Pablo Iglesias, Puerta de Purchena, Rambla, Obispo Orbera, Calle Gregorio Marañon, Calle Altamira, Doctor Carracido and Avenida Federico Garcia Lorca (Amphitheater).
9 pm Tribute to the elderly at the municipal booth.

8 pm Solemn votive mass of praise to the Most Holy Virgin of the Sea starting at the Cathedral Square and finishing at the Paseo de Almería, Emilio Perez Square; upon arrival of the Most Holy Virgin she will go to the sea with an address by the Bishop and singing of the Hymn to close the festivites.
